The Bikeathon

This June, Aspect’s Charity Committee and Sports Committee proudly teamed up to organise Aspect’s annual sponsored event. This year, they held a “Bikeathon” in order to raise funds for the highly effective Mango Tree, a fantastic charity dedicated to creating sustainable education for orphaned children in Tanzania and Kenya. The Mango Tree offers pastoral care and mentorship that enable these children to flourish and to make something of themselves.

During the 2015 “Bikeathon”, 2 teams of Aspect employees, “Geared Up” and “Maillot Jaune”, competed to cycle the distance covered by the 2015 edition of the Tour de France (3344km) between them, in under a week! This was great fun and all employees involved cycled an average of 39.3km each!

The Bikeathon raised a fantastic £24,000 which Aspect matched making our final donation to Mango Tree over £50,000.

Recent Projects

Aspect has been a long-time supporter of The Mango Tree Orphan Support Programme (TMT).  Aspect’s ongoing commitment most recently allowed TMT to offer bursaries to orphans attending the Kyela Polytechnic College. This year’s sponsored event has been earmarked to extend the support to more orphans and vulnerable young people in Kyela to study at the Polytechnic College. One group of vulnerable young people Aspect would wish to help with these bursaries are deaf students, who need to be taught sign language and given some vocational training. The first such course for 27 deaf students, which will finish in December has, so far, been very well received and more deaf people are coming forward asking to join the College in 2016. Aspect’s donation in excess of £50,000 will go a long way to provide the much needed support, in a sustainable way, to some of society’s most vulnerable people.
